MIRACK was awarded and successfully completed a $700,500.00 subcontract on the Repair Digester, Wastewater Treatment Plant NO. 2 at Ft. Huachuca, AZ. The Owner of the Project was the US Army Corps of Engineers. MIRACK was subcontracted to provide the management of operations for all labor, materials and equipment for the installation of a 47 foot diameter Duo Sphere Gasholder Cover for a 47 foot tank which included a thermal mass digester flow meter and two (2) External Extreme Duty Sludge Mixers (SME1) which were to be installed using the existing draft tubes and controls. In addition, the requirement was for one (1) Digester Gas Scrubber which was to be routed to the existing gas piping leading away from the digester. The 47 foot diameter Duo Sphere Gasholder Cover was mounted on a round 47' diameter concrete digester tank with a center-mounted mixer. This option for a digester cover provided a cost effective and practical solution to digester gas storage. The dual membrane system uses fans to pressurize the air space between the membranes, providing a consistent positive pressure to the gas contained within the inner membrane. The inner membrane is free to inflate and deflate, depending on the amount of gas stored, however the outer membrane remains fully inflated. This project also called for the installation of new controls, a new platform and new draft tubes where required. All work was to be completed in accordance with the plans and specifications, applicable industry standards, Unified Facility Criteria (UFC), SMACNA, NFPA, NEBB, ASHRAE, NEC and AABC standards, federal, state and local codes, regulations, SSVEC requirements, Fort Huachuca Checklists and Army requirements. MIRACK completed this project on time and without incident.
